City of Milwaukee Proposed ARPA Spending Plan
The city of Milwaukee will receive a $394.2 million award from the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) that can be used to replace lost revenues, address negative impacts of the pandemic, provide premium pay to essential workers, and upgrade water, sewer, and broadband infrastructure.
The mayor’s three-year spending proposal to the city council for the ARPA grant would put 35.4% ($140 million) toward closing budget gaps and offsetting rising pension costs. The rest would go to lead paint treatment and abatement, affordable housing, pandemic response, and other initiatives.
