State Budget and Federal Funding in the Spotlight
Virtual event | April 4, 2025 | 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
On April 4 our virtual event series, Forum Friday, examined the state’s 2025-27 budget and featured two former state budget directors with exceptional knowledge about public finance. We reviewed our latest state budget report, then heard our panelists’ insights on how the budget bill could reshape the state. Our guests also discussed the effects that potential cuts and delays to federal funding could have for local governments, school districts, and programs such as Medicaid.
Our Forum Friday panelists included:
Michael Heifetz Managing Director, Public Sector Services
Alvarez & Marsal
Former state budget and state Medicaid director
under Gov. Scott Walker
David Schmiedicke Finance Director
City of Madison
Former state budget director under
Gov. Scott McCallum and Gov. Jim Doyle
During Forum Fridays, we discuss a timely research topic and invite notable guests and Forum members to join the conversation. We hope this can be another way to keep you informed and connected on our state’s most pressing public policy issues. Stay tuned for more Forum Friday events in the near future!
