Forum Friday – K12 Digital Divide & School Finance

For the inaugural installment of our new virtual event series, Forum Friday, Wisconsin Policy Forum Senior Education Researcher Anne Chapman and President Rob Henken discussed key findings from our recent research on K-12 schools. These included:

• how the COVID-19 crisis could affect school finances
• 2021 Milwaukee and Madison school district budgets; and,
• how the pandemic could worsen the state’s digital divide for students.

Then, we invited Alan Borsuk, senior fellow at Marquette Law School, longtime Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter and columnist, and noted Milwaukee-area education expert, to join the discussion.

During Forum Fridays, we discuss a timely research topic and invite notable guests and Forum members to join the conversation. This doesn’t replace our in-person events such as our Viewpoint Luncheons or Policy in a Pub, which are on hold for now during the current crisis.
