On March 22, our popular virtual event series Forum Friday, focused on the April 2 referendum that will ask city of Milwaukee voters whether the Milwaukee Public Schools should be allowed to exceed state revenue limits by $252 million annually after a phase-in over four years.
We began with a brief presentation that will lay out the facts about the ballot question and its impacts on taxpayers. Then we interviewed MPS’ superintendent on the need for additional dollars and how they would be spent. We followed that up with a discussion with three panelists who have extensive knowledge of K-12 education in Milwaukee and MPS’ financial needs.
Our Forum Friday guests were:
Dr. Keith Posley Superintendent
Milwaukee Public Schools
Alan Borsuk Senior Fellow in Law and Public Policy
Marquette University Law School
Willie Jude II Executive Director Milwaukee Public Schools Foundation
Colleston Morgan, Jr. Executive Director
City Forward Collective
During Forum Fridays, we discuss a timely research topic and invite notable guests and Forum members to join the conversation. We hope this can be another way to keep you informed and connected on our state’s most pressing public policy issues. Stay tuned for more Forum Friday events in the near future!
