What is Forum Friday? In this webinar format, we discuss a timely research topic and invite notable guests and Forum members to join the conversation. While this virtual event series doesn't replace our in-person events, we hope this can be a way to keep you informed and connected on our state's most pressing public policy issues.

Back-to-School Challenges and Opportunities

Virtual Event | September 24 | 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.

Join us Friday, September 24, for our virtual event series, Forum Friday. This installment centers on the array of issues facing Wisconsin school districts as students return to the classroom after the unprecedented events of the last 18 months.

We’ll discuss recent Forum research on last year’s historic school enrollment decline – and what to expect in the 2021-22 school year. We’ll also examine the opportunities and limitations of federal pandemic aid for school districts, the impacts of the latest state budget, and how districts are faring in meeting their teacher workforce demands.

Helping us explore these and other back-to-school issues will be our Forum Friday guests: Dr. Keith Posley, Superintendent, Milwaukee Public Schools, Kim Kaukl, executive director of the Wisconsin Rural Schools Alliance, Dan Rossmiller director of government relations of the Wisconsin Association of School Boards, and Terri Phillips, executive director of the Southeast Wisconsin Schools Alliance.
